Web Security Administration – Snapshots

By Delmar Dehn, Senior Product Manager

Web Security Administration for Infor Landmark (aka Web Security Administration) is now available! Web Security Administration is a powerful tool to configure and extend the roles and rules-based security policies for any Infor Landmark technology platform-based application. For example, Web Security Administration can be used to assign security rules to security classes, which govern tasks that can be performed, and then assign security classes to roles. Roles are collections of security privileges that provide authorization for common business user functions. The Infor Financials & Supply Management application, Infor HR Talent application, and Infor Payroll application all deliver pre-defined roles with associated security policies for common business user functions. The Web Security Administration tool can be used to tailor delivered security rules, security classes, and roles to extend the security model to match customers’ specific security requirements. Web Security Administration changes take effect in near real-time in the production environment without taking the system down. Web Security Administration operates from within a web browser and introduces many new features and capabilities.

Since Web Security Administration can be used to tailor and extend Infor Landmark technology platform-based application security policies in so many ways, Infor will be posting here on the Infor Technology Blog a series of Web Security Administration videos describing and demonstrating the tool’s noteworthy features. The video demonstrations are hosted and narrated by some of Infor’s foremost Web Security Administration subject matter experts.

Note: Starting with Part 7, the videos will describe and demonstrate Web Configuration Console capabilities that are also applicable to Web Security Administration.

The Web Security Administration video series includes:
Part 1:  Introduction
Part 2: Security Class Configuration
Part 3: User Management
Part 4: System Management
Part 5: Author Management
Part 6: Administration
Part 7: LPL Viewer
Part 8: Tags & Bundles
Part 9: Snapshots
Part 10: LPL Version Analysis

In this post’s part 9 video, Glen Rexing, Senior Principal Cloud Solution Architect, Infor, explores using Web Configuration Console’s change management functionality known as snapshots. He discusses Web Configuration Console’s change management snapshot functionality including snapshot creation, exporting, importing to the target, validating the snapshot’s items, and applying that snapshot. Glen explains a system snapshot, which contains all configurations, personalizations, and security classes on the system, and how to compare configurations and security classes on one system to the configurations and security classes on another system. He also describes a snapshot that is more focused on change management for development processes that captures all configurations, personalizations, and security classes tagged into selected bundles or changes between systems. Glen demonstrates Web Configuration Console’s change management functionality, specifically, system snapshots. He shows how to export a system snapshot, import it to a target, and compare differences between systems. Glen also demonstrates using tags and bundles as the sources for a snapshot. Glen concludes by recommending pertinent Infor Education training courses. Be sure to watch for future Web Configuration Console videos.
